Blossom Series
Starting on the floor of the studio on unstretched canvas, the artist drips paint intuitively to find the composition. His inspiration for Jacaranda blossoms come from his hometown roots in London cities. The artist recalls growing up in a poor run down neighborhood which would annually become covered in a blanket of blue and purple blossoms. These pockets of nature in cities encapsulated subtle moments where beauty can be found and community can show pride.
Artist Note
These originally started as a much larger canvas in 2015. After revisiting the canvas numerous time the decision was made to alter the scale and 2 smaller canvases were created. Alongside the textured surface and paint application red thread can be found incorporated into the paintings. The thread being an indication of the Bulgarian tradition of Martenista, a memory of walking in Springtime and dashes of red in the ribbons attached to tree branches." - Neil Douglas
