“This painting is loosely based on “The abduction of Ganymede”
(1532) by Correggio where an eagle (Zeus) is taking a beautiful human(Ganymede) up into the Olympus. I tried to capture the idealistic landscape where this happens, reinterpreting the myth by removing the ominous dark presence of the eagle abducting Ganymede by a white levitating ghostly form that represents both. By pouring the diluted oil color onto the painting placed upside down I tried to evoke the idea of ascension.”
