Artist Note
This artwork draws inspiration from Correggio's 1532 masterpiece, 'The Abduction of Ganymede,' in which Zeus, in the form of an eagle, carries the human Ganymede up to Olympus. It captures the idyllic landscape where this mythological tale unfolds. In reimagining the myth, Murado replaces the foreboding image of the eagle abducting Ganymede with an ethereal, ghostly figure symbolizing transcendence. By pouring thinned oil colors onto the inverted canvas, Murado conveys the concept of ascension, creating a thought-provoking and transformative perspective.
