For the artist, softening the iron is like softening life. When translating from the personal, the local, and the global, each subject deals with its own expansive contexts which makes it hard to find grounding. Beginning to deal with each narrative demands the ability to lean in and find something to hold on to. Orna believes as women and art converge, art becomes stronger than the resounding masculine attributes of iron materials.
Artist Note
During isolation, the artist began to express her desire for a time when we can be together again. Each sculpted work begins to focus on the context of its environment and the objects and people that are necessary to make something become alive. The Singer depicts a transparent figure who stands before a solidly depicted mic-stand amongst a rendering of a crowd. The singer sings alone but belongs to the mass of players in the orchestra. The singer symbolically represents the will needed to be alone and together.
