Glory Series
The Glory Series explores an explosion of visual tonality in direct relation with the expansion of Chang’s heart opening into a new context of eternal light and a belief into seeing from the beyond. Painted in the tranquility of his studio floor, he encounters sacred exchanges and executes intuitive transmissions. In this state of stillness, Chang’s laborious process of painting sometimes 40, even 50 layers, results in a meditative state that requires slowing down and working within the regenerative nature of consciousness. What results is a direct channel of his divine encounters onto his paintings and drawings. Chang describes his unintentional results as being the divine disclosure found in the form of eternal light. The body of works showcased in this exhibition emanates from the essence of that very light. It extends an invitation to all viewers to delve beyond the mere visual and physical aspects, exploring the depths of darkness, shadows, and light.
"In the past, I extensively utilized ink to craft monochromatic artworks, symbolizing the color of the Universe. It resembled light—a force unleashed upon release, dissipating into the void. For me, color retains the same significance, yet its energy is concentrated, diverging from the dispersed nature of light. This is where my shift towards incorporating color began, transforming my creations into a cosmos."- Artist, Jinwon Chang
