"The blue at the top of the painting is a reference to the painters tape that held the drawing on my studio wall. This drawing was from my brother when we were both young men. We both lived in Florence, Italy for a time while studying abroad. During that time I would pass 'The Duomo' on the way back-and-forth to the studio, thinking and dreaming of how to become an artist. Like Paul Cézanne and his mountain in Aix-en-Provence, I always come back to the cathedral that I passed on the walk to the studio. This painting documents that constant return to these spaces."
