Dream Landscapes

"This piece was inspired by my personal experience. Fiery red autumn leaves of maple trees appear for a short time when the season changes. When the leaves have withered and died, the maple tree bears seeds, the pinnacle of the tree's life energy that represents hope for the future. The seeds are carried away in the wind; only a few will land on fertile grounds where it will start a story of its own. In this pieces, the maple seeds are the manifest want, need, hope and longing. I believe these emotions are closer to human nature and the way we see our lives.

The seeds have potential to grow into a strong tree and spreads its own offspring, but it can also fly away and amount to nothing. Such contradictions and the uncertainty of life have always inspire me to create. I feel the urge to follow the maple seeds as its wings carry it far and wide. The fleeting moment when the seed takes off is reminiscent of unrequited love because it is a mixture of unease, hope, heart flutter and sometimes despair." - JeeYoung Lee
