"Much of the subject matter in my work is influenced by nature and spirituality as I view them interrelated. I frequently pull inspiration from the Texas hill country where the landscape is unforgiving at times and arid. In contrast within this struggle for resources you also will see large healthy old oak trees. Our current landscape provides a base within my work and our purpose in life. I often reference a point in the future where there is a possibility of non-existence, which gives me the ability to work backwards and creatively document what is in front of us."- Shane Pennington
During the artists experience in Isolation through the lockdowns of the 2020 Pandemic Crisis, he struggled with the fear of lonliness within his community. Calling Kate, who kept him in touch with the Waterfall artist community, he recalled the blessings from afar that nourished his soul and faith reminding him that he is never truly alone. He separated the once singular tree symbol that appears in his wire work, into two trees that communicate to the viewer the unity felt during such a tremendous time.
