The ‘Wildflowers Recorded’ series is inspired by the unique beauty and purity of wildflowers. As a child, Pennington had the privilege to observe and learn from local artists who painted the Texas Hill Country bluebonnets and wildflowers that adorned the hillsides. Every spring, when these wildflowers appear, he states “they lend us their wondrous colors, momentarily transforming the entire landscape before our eyes.”
Original Artwork Price: $4,800 (each)
Production Lead Time: 4-6 weeks
To create each piece, Penngington referenced his drawings and a collection of pressed wildflowers that he had accumulated over time. He chose to sculpt, out of copper wipe, each unique wildflower within a cube that frames the species. Ideally, the cube represents a means of protecting the wildflower from endangerment. Additionally, the cube is a symbol of admiration for the ephemeral beauty of nature, encouraging us to pause and reflect on its splendor.
